The gate is located in our hallway, which is 60" wide, and this extension makes it fit perfectly.No drilling was needed, it is tension mounted, and has been very sturdy.We've been using it since June.With 4 people and two dogs the gate is used A LOT and has held up very well.Only as occasional adjustment to the tension has been needed to keep the door swinging closed.
