(More customer reviews)What the previous reviewer didn't realize is that there are 2 different packaging options for this item. The first option is a pack that contains 1 key and 2 locks for people who want to try it out and the second option is to buy the pack that contains 4 locks but no key for those who already bought the starter kit and happened to like the product. So make sure you really read the description of what you're getting if you're buying online. (This one happens do be the 4 locks with no key so you might want to try the starter kit first...I actually rec. it because UNFORTUNATELY the lock doesn't work with all situations because of draw designs) Then on top of that Kidco also sells the key seperately with no locks for those who have the product, love it, and happened to misplace or lose their key OR want to purchase an additional incase they ever lose the 1st key. I will admit that I think it's pretty lame for a company to try to squeeze every penny out of you especially when it probaby only costs 5 cents to make the darn key and especially when you're dealing with child safety products. As far as how well the product works...I LOVE IT and wish it had worked out better with all my draw situations! It's especially great for those cabinet doors that stand alone and don't have another door next to it where you can just buy one of those wrap around door knob locks that require 2 knobs to be side by side. I didn't have as great of luck with my kitchen draws because the draw panel is added on to the actual draw so it isn't flush with where you put the catch. I put 5 stars to bring the rating up because the last reviewer only gave one and it's actually a great product. I know it will outsmart my baby far beyond any cheaper options out there. I installed them with the adhesive tape that comes with it but I plan on reattaching it with the screws also included because I personally feel that the screws will do a better job AND because I love my child more than my freaking cabinet doors for all those worried about messing up your precious wood cabinets...I mean give me a break...the holes are so small anyway and it's totally concealed, only you will know it's there. ALSO, this locks so tight that little fingers/hands can't reach inside small openings (which usually occures with the other types of locks) and pull stuff out. And also there's an option to turn the lock off for in between kids. DEFINITELY CONSIDER THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

(More customer reviews)Great to not have to screw into cabinets.A good yank can pull off the adhesive, but there would be warning for something like that (takes a lot of force).Having to get the magnet every time to open a cabinet is tough, but better than having to screw in tons of cabinet locks.And worth it for baby safety.

Kidco Decora Outlet Cover Review

(More customer reviews)The Kidco Decora outlet covers are the best product I found that met my criteria for functionality and asthetics. In my opinion the covers look great; much better than other options on the market. They are convenient as well as there are no removal parts once they are installed.

They can be a little touchy to install; if you tighen the screws too much the springs will bind up and the mechanism does not work as expected. It's not a big issue; just back off the screw a bit but it would be nice if the housing was stiffer so this problem wasn't possible.

On the asthetic front I think these are pretty good. A screwless design (like some decora wallplates) would be even better. I do like these decora specific ones MUCH better than the "universal" ones they have now with unnecessary screw holes - yuck. I hope these are still easily available.

I'm largely posting this review to counter the other 1 star review that didn't even address the product.

Kidco Convertible Crib Rail Review

(More customer reviews)I did not actually buy this product from Amazon, but I wanted to review it here for others as I find the reviews extremely helpful.

We have a convertible crib that we recently converted from crib to the toddler bed. Like a lot of kids, our son moves a lot in his sleep. Even though the bed was 6-8 in off the ground, I was worried he'd fall out of bed anyway. At first we intended to buy a regular bed rail, knowing at some point we'll get a twin bed for his room.However, some reviews I read specifically mentioned that those rails would not fit a toddler bed or a convertible crib, and I was worried they'd be too long for the toddler bed anyway.

Once it was assembled, it was very easy to install onto the bed.A great feature is that the rail itself snaps in and out of the brackets easily, so it can be removed in seconds to change the sheets, etc. It fits the bed well and there aren't any gaps or movement of the rail for anything to get caught in.

The directions, however, are lacking.There is a diagram on the first page listing all the parts and labeling them as A, B, C, etc. The actual directions are on the next page (like a book) and say something like "Connect Bed Rail A to Bracket B" so I kept having to flip back and forth to determine what part I was working with and where it was going etc. There are no drawings accompanying the directions themselves and I found the directions, while somewhat detailed, were still confusing. We got it all together and then determined, while installing it on the bed, that we'd put the brackets in backwards so we had to take them out. That was kind of a pain b/c they snap together sort of like tent poles, with the holes and the buttons to press down to "release" and the release part was hard. We had to use a screwdriver to get it to release.

I think that these directions really, really need to have pictures with each step b/c it was very difficult to know if we were putting things together correctly (which we did not, apparently!)Once it's together, it's very easy to put on the bed itself.

The other comment I have is that our crib/bed has 3 mattress levels. We had the mattress on the very lowest level and then when we converted the bed to the toddler bed and put the rail on, we actually had to raise the mattress back to the middle level. It's hard to explain here but the product has a strap that connects to the opposite side of the mattress, and then you tighten it. Then it also has this rectangular bar structure that is supposed to lay flat on the mattress, with the brackets for the rail resting on the outside/other side of the mattress.With the mattress in the lowest position, the bar structure was laying at an angle - basically the bracket side higher than the spring part of the bed b/c the brackets were resting on the outside rail of the bed, so we raised the mattress back to the middle level so the bar would rest flat against the mattress spring base.

Kidco Convertible Crib Bed Rail Review

(More customer reviews)Apparently finding a bed rail for a convertible crib is very difficult.This is the only brand I could find.My first advice would be to buy a convertible bed from a manufacturer that sells its own crib rails, or buy a regular crib and then a toddler bed!I'm happy with this product.When I looked at an online manual, it showed the rail attaching to the mattress, but when I got it, the instruction manual shows to attach it to the crib frame.I like that better, because I can now remove the mattress without removing the rail.I did find one drawback with this product.Our crib mattress fits into the platform frame where it sits down a little.Meaning there's a lip on the frame, so it isn't flat across.Using this product now prevents the mattress from fitting all the way down onto the platform.This was not that much of a problem though, for me.The rail does not leave a lot of room to get in and out if you put it in the center, so I moved it closer to the head to give my daughter more space to scoot out the bottom.I think it's an adequate product if you have a convertible crib from a manufacturer that does not sell crib rails.(Mine is a Delta Jasmine).
