KidCo Y Spindle (2 Pack) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I was a little skeptical about how this was going to work, but I have spindles on one side of my staircase and stained wooden molding on the other side, so I didn't want to drill any holes. The other kits were wooden pieces that went around the spindles, and didn't look very good in my opinion.Since my spindles are black iron, I got the black Kidco gate which is pressure mounted. These are very sturdy and the entire system was very easy to install. It also looks good!!! I would definitely recommend these over any other spindle kit.

Parent Units Safety Straps for Equipment Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The straps came just as expected and were easy to install. You do have to be patient with holding the pieces in place for the adhesive to set as the package directs. I waited the 3 days also before strapping them down and locking them. They work fine and secure my huge 150 pound old style TV to its stand so no one can knock it over. (I had to use four straps to meet the weight requirement.)

KidCo 4 Lock Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)What the previous reviewer didn't realize is that there are 2 different packaging options for this item. The first option is a pack that contains 1 key and 2 locks for people who want to try it out and the second option is to buy the pack that contains 4 locks but no key for those who already bought the starter kit and happened to like the product. So make sure you really read the description of what you're getting if you're buying online. (This one happens do be the 4 locks with no key so you might want to try the starter kit first...I actually rec. it because UNFORTUNATELY the lock doesn't work with all situations because of draw designs) Then on top of that Kidco also sells the key seperately with no locks for those who have the product, love it, and happened to misplace or lose their key OR want to purchase an additional incase they ever lose the 1st key. I will admit that I think it's pretty lame for a company to try to squeeze every penny out of you especially when it probaby only costs 5 cents to make the darn key and especially when you're dealing with child safety products. As far as how well the product works...I LOVE IT and wish it had worked out better with all my draw situations! It's especially great for those cabinet doors that stand alone and don't have another door next to it where you can just buy one of those wrap around door knob locks that require 2 knobs to be side by side. I didn't have as great of luck with my kitchen draws because the draw panel is added on to the actual draw so it isn't flush with where you put the catch. I put 5 stars to bring the rating up because the last reviewer only gave one and it's actually a great product. I know it will outsmart my baby far beyond any cheaper options out there. I installed them with the adhesive tape that comes with it but I plan on reattaching it with the screws also included because I personally feel that the screws will do a better job AND because I love my child more than my freaking cabinet doors for all those worried about messing up your precious wood cabinets...I mean give me a break...the holes are so small anyway and it's totally concealed, only you will know it's there. ALSO, this locks so tight that little fingers/hands can't reach inside small openings (which usually occures with the other types of locks) and pull stuff out. And also there's an option to turn the lock off for in between kids. DEFINITELY CONSIDER THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

KidCo Adhesive Mount Magnet Lock - 4 Lock Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Great to not have to screw into cabinets.A good yank can pull off the adhesive, but there would be warning for something like that (takes a lot of force).Having to get the magnet every time to open a cabinet is tough, but better than having to screw in tons of cabinet locks. And worth it for baby safety.

Prince Lionheart Fireplace Guard Safety Item Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)A new baby reaching toddler size presents a lot of difficulties around the house. What will he get into? How will he injure himself? What do we need to do to protect him? Hmmmmmm. It's a tough question and no matter what you do, he'll probably find something you didn't think of. Our toddler has already found a tube of diaper rash creme and spread it all over himself (primarily the face) and over the wood floor and a carpet.

Well, we've tried to do some common sense things. For example, our living room has a large fireplace with a raised brick hearth. The edge, and particularly the corners, are sharp and harsh and could cause a good wound if the baby were to fall against them. So we bought this Prince Lionheart Cushiony Fireplace Guard. I installed it in about an hour. It's a one-size-fits-all solution and I was afraid our fireplace was too big. No problem. It took a bit of cutting, but we ended up with about 6 inches of edge left over.

We don't like the looks of it, but the baby's safety is of greater importance. The guard is stuck on with some tape from 3M and there are warnings in 10 different languages that they do not guarantee that the glue will do no damage. Hmmmmm. I expect there will be damage when the guard is removed. It's an imperfect solution, but better than nothing.

KidCo Angle-Mount Safeway Gate Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought two (2) of these one for the top and one for the bottom of the stairs. My one year old uses them as his own personal jungle gyms and they hold up well but, the gates were extremely complicated to install.I'm pretty handy, I have built houses for years, and I'm also proficient with electrical installations, plumbing, heating and finish carpentry.Normally I'd expect a project like this to take no more than 15 minutes and the second gate should be easier than the first. What I found was that it took me a solid hour to get the gate into a functioning state and another 30 minutes to adjust to a final working state. They are overpriced for the quality, e.g. I bought the black gates to mimic a wrought iron look as my house is well over 100 years old.The hardware provided is nickel instead of black powder coated so it stands out ands looks shoddy.

Nature Next Bamboo Gate Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)...because my 11 month old loves to scale it!

Love the fact that this gate is eco-friendly, love the price ( compare it to any other gate, most start at $60)

Can't stand the inconvenience of having to step over it with baby in hand (it is amazing how easy it is to miss-judge the height of the thing!)

And then of course there is the big issue of the foot holds and griping area for little hands (i.e. those stylish little holes which run throughout the surface of the gate)rendering the gate not so useful as a safety/containment device but instead a rather dangerous but very entertaining toy.

N.B.-
While this review is written with a light tone I should mention that I did turn around to find my infant ( still not walking, though very close) more than half-way up the gate with head and shoulders leaning over the other side. There was nothing near the gate for her to climb up she simply used the holes in the gate and made very quick work of climbing up...

I would say save this gate for your pet but it is probably too low unless you have a toy or miniature.

Dream Baby Tall Security Gate Extension - White (7") Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Excellent product! Keeps my son of 15 months, who is somewhat active and very curios, away from passing through the hallway and getting to explore more that what he needs too for now. His mom and I are very happy that the security gate is so sturdy and strong enough to keep him on one side and gives us a peace of mind if he gets away and goes were the gate is because we know he can't get through. The gate is still strong even after adding the extension. t does not lose its integrity and gets the job done.

Kidco Door Positioner Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)These are OK, they mostly hold the door in place, but can easily be pushed when on carpet or even hard wood such that they are not as useful for a toddler as I would have hoped. They come with two "feet" that attach and one of mine had only one foot.If I could do it again, I'd probably try another product.

KidCo Mesh Window Guard Review

(More customer reviews)I got this because the only space in our son's bedroom for the crib was in front of the window.I didn't want him to be able to reach thru the bars and play with the blinds or get tangle in the cord. This works perfectly to protect him from any danger posed by the window or the blinds. It's behind his crib, so you only notice it if you look for it.It was easy to put together and easy to install.GREAT PRODUCT!

Kidco Decora Outlet Cover Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The Kidco Decora outlet covers are the best product I found that met my criteria for functionality and asthetics. In my opinion the covers look great; much better than other options on the market. They are convenient as well as there are no removal parts once they are installed.

They can be a little touchy to install; if you tighen the screws too much the springs will bind up and the mechanism does not work as expected. It's not a big issue; just back off the screw a bit but it would be nice if the housing was stiffer so this problem wasn't possible.

On the asthetic front I think these are pretty good. A screwless design (like some decora wallplates) would be even better. I do like these decora specific ones MUCH better than the "universal" ones they have now with unnecessary screw holes - yuck. I hope these are still easily available.

I'm largely posting this review to counter the other 1 star review that didn't even address the product.

Dreambaby 3.5" Gate Extension Review

(More customer reviews)The gate extension quality is fine. However, nowhere in the description on Amazon does it tell you an extension cannot be added on to another extension. In short, we bought a gate that was just short for our opening and bought this thinking we could add it on.Not so!After opening the product, there are warnings all over the place to not add the extension on to an extension. If your opening is too big, you need to get the 7" or larger extension (we wanted to add the 3.5" to another 3.5" that came with the gate). We are returning.
