Stokke Xplory Basic Review

Stokke Xplory Basic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When my son was a few months old, I realized just how stressful it must have been for him to be low to the ground, facing away from me while being pushed in his stroller down a busy street. I began wishing that a stroller existed that could adjust up and down and facing/away from a parent. I was so excited to find the Xplory, that it did exist. My hunch that babies could be stressed from the typical sitting arrangement of a stroller has even been verified by academic research. I love this stroller. The biggest drawback is the price: but I considered it a nod to the ingenuity of the designers and how unique it is. This stroller stands apart from all other strollers on the market. I am very impressed by its handling, quality of materials and adaptability.

I consider the carry cot as an unjustifiable expense because it is only functional for a short period of time in a baby's life and that period is when I'm most likely to be wearing the baby on my body for additional comfort and interaction. But once a stroller is the preferred method of travel for parent and child, the Xplory cannot be surpassed.

To others who covet this stroller as much as I did, I encourage you to keep searching for a good price. I finally got mine for $700 new (although it was a previous year's model).

STOKKE XPLORY Complete Review

STOKKE XPLORY Complete
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was the first stroller we bought for our baby, but we no longer use it due to several design flaws that turned out to be deal-breakers.
First the good stuff:
The height of the child seat or bassinet (they call it the "baby bag") is wonderful for a variety of reasons. The stroller is quite stable despite the height of the seat. The stair climbing feature - the rear wheels fold under -is great. The optional bag that sits on the lower platform (spare seat?) is very useful. Great for putting heavy things in while going shopping. The stroller can double as a child seat in restaurants. Easy to remove and wash fabric parts. Good warranty service.
Now the bad:
My main point - the design of the stroller around the single aluminum support beam has created some design limitations that they have had to work around, and their workarounds are not very good in many cases.
The Baby Bag is too short, and the cutout for the beam makes it even shorter practically. Our child had outgrown it by 4 months and we had to put him in the seat and recline it instead, which was not ideal.
The foot rest is very badly thought out - it needs to be removed entirely from the seat in order to change from forward to rear-facing (again, this is because of the beam), and it requires three hands to adjust or remove it - one for each of the catches on the left and right sides, and another to move the rest. Last time I checked I only had two hands.
This wouldn't be much of a problem if it weren't necessary to change between forward and rear facing so often, but since the seat will not recline very much in the forward-facing position (the beam again) you will find yourself executing this maneuver regularly. I don't know why they didn't design the footrest in two parts, that could fold like on a wheelchair, so it could clear the beam without having to remove the rest.
The safety bar for the seat doesn't open, and it's positioned too close to the seat, so getting the child in and out is difficult. It is removable, but it's not a quick procedure. Also you're not supposed to use this bar to carry the seat with the child in it, which defeats part of the purpose of having it there in the first place.
It's difficult to fold the stroller, you need to use both hands and one foot to close it, and if you start off with the seat rear-facing, you'll need to remove the seat first as well. This makes it less than ideal for getting into a taxi, for example, unless you have someone else there to hold the baby, and even so it takes too long.
The canopy is not waterproof. In a mild to heavy rain, water will soak through the fabric and drip inside. There is a plastic raincover , but as it zips to the front of the canopy, rather than covering it, it does not protect from water adequately. Also there is a fabric portion of the raincover which has the same problem as the canopy.
The mount for the optional sun parasol is not adjustable, so if you recline the seat the parasol cannot provide shade for the baby. Also, the flexible metal stem for the parasol itself is very stiff and doesn't adjust well, and it breaks easily, which will happen when you attempt to move the parasol into a useful position when the seat is reclined.
The oval handle is quite adjustable and comfortable for a range of users, however it's very hard to hang a bag from there, and there aren't really any other places to hang one on this stroller. Forget the small bag they sell to hang on the beam, it's a terrible solution. The lower bag is great for carrying shopping and such, but you don't want to have to always be reaching down there for bottles, food, toys, etc. and when the seat is forward-facing with the footrest installed, it's hard to get to that bag.
Lastly, the quality is not as good as one would expect given the price. The wheels are plastic and scratch and look bad quickly. The rear yoke for the back wheels isn't very strong so if you use the stair-climbing feature with much weight on the stroller it will deteriorate and break - we had to have ours repaired. Admittedly, this is due to the fact that we were abusing the stroller by climing stairs with it with the child in the seat (which they say not to do, presumably for safety reasons), but designers should be realistic and realize that if they allow you to fold the wheels under to climb or descend stairs more easily, then people are going to do that with the child in the stroller because in many cases there is no other alternative (what, take the baby out and leave it on the landing of the stairs while you go down to retrieve the stroller?). Also, there was a problem that developed where the seat would start slipping down. Our retailer contacted Stokke and they provided us with a little metal shim that solved the problem, but the annoying thing was that the instructions for this fix had a date printed on them that was before our purchase date - if they know this is a problem, why don't they provide the shim when you buy the stroller in the first place.
I hope that they will eventually redesign this and solve most of these problems. With the exception of the limitation on how the seat can recline, I think all of these flaws are solveable. But until they come out with a second version, I wouldn't spend money on this one. We got lucky - when ours broke, Stokke replaced the entire chassis, wheels and all (good warranty service, like I said) so we essentially had a new stroller, and we sold it and got enough to cover the cost of the stroller we had already bought to replace it. (a Quinny Buzz, btw - also not perfect but more useable for our purposes).

BumbleRide Queen B Stroller Review

BumbleRide Queen B Stroller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The QueenB is the best stroller there is, ever, period.I have owned and tried many high end boutique strollers, and this is head and shoulders above anything I have yet come across.

We've had ours from about 18 months. The more I use it, the more I'm impressed with it.It is a dream.

I have heard the criticism that its hard to turn in tight spaces.Bologna! Its is the EASIEST to turn in tight spaces. And of this point you may want to make additional note in the manual or such as I can see how people may make that inaccurate conclusion. If you "push forward" into the turn so as to put weight on the front wheels, they straighten out and make tight turns tough. But if you "push down" on the rear to take weight off the front wheels, it is the easiest tight "turn on a dime" ever.It actually turns itself.I can load the QueenB with a 1 year old and a 5 year old (with toddler seat) plus the ever full diaper bag, and navigate any department store with one hand... like a dream. There is no other stroller that could do this.(Admittedly if you try turning it like its a Graco, you could frustrate at it.)

Not to mention its just smooth as ice, with the oh-so-clever shock absorbers (kudos to the designer on that one) and the large air inflated tires.I enjoy just pushing it; I imagine for the kids its even smoother. So solid and sturdy, even with the adjustable handles, which I worried would get wobbly and "give" over time, it is a solid tank.We are increasingly impressed, dazzled, and amazed the more we use it.

Is anything wrong with it?Yes, a few downsides. Its heavy to lift, and is a large stroller; this is minor to me.The cup holder isn't fantastic; thats irritating, but also minor. The foot brake is solid and effective at being a brake, but is hard to release with your foot; sometimes I need to bend down and use my hand to release it.All minor complaints when compared to its upsides.

Well I just wanted to take a minute to give feedback on this fantastic stroller. The engineers did a great job.

Phil and Teds Explorer With Double Kit: RED Review

Phil and Teds Explorer With Double Kit: RED

I only wish that I had bought this stroller with my first child. My daughter is now 17 months and my son is 6 weeks. This is such a lifesaver!!!!

When I was pregnant with my son I did extensive research on double strollers. When I say extensive I mean extensive - I live in Europe and researched what people in each European country were using, and after finding this stroller I also researched the other options in Australia and New Zealand. With my daughter I got the standard Graco travel system and an umbrella stroller for later use.I plan to sell the travel system and umbrella stroller as this is the only stroller that I need.

It fits into my small trunk (BMW 325), is very comfortable, very versatile, and small when opened for use.

The only con that I have for the stroller is that you need two hands to fold it, but with all the other pros outweigh that small inconvenience.

This is a very nice stroller, the most compact stroller on the market that has reversible seat.It has a huge canopy, nice roomy seat, smooth operation, and large basket. It looks very stylish too!The toddler also sits high up and straight so my son likes it.It folds in half and can stand by itself. You can also grab it(when folded)and wheel it with the two big tires.I find this a huge plus for airport travel. It came with all accessories except the parent console. The stroller has two front foam tires and two rear air tires. You may compare this stroller to the new Britax B-scene, which allows a 2nd child but is heavier and wider between the 2 rear tires -- harder to get through tighter spaces. The britax also has smaller canopy. Check out the video on [...].I am pleasantly surprised with this purchase.

phil&teds Smart Buggy Review

I've been waiting for this stroller since Jan 2010 and finally its out in the market now (June 2010)!So as the first 'brave' one to review this, here's what i can say...

1) assembly is no brainer! I dont even need to read the manual. But you still have to as you might miss some steps.
2) If 'lightweight' means an umbrella stroller for you, then this Smart buggy is not for you. This is still kindda heavy specially once you have attached the wheels. So lifiting it to/from your car's trunk still needs your 2 strong muscular arms. But if you have the usual 'travel system' of other strollers or those bugaboo -ha! you should be strong enough for this new one.
3) folding/unfolding is very easy (the front wheels are just wiggly when folding). Note that you CANNOT store it standing, unless it is leaning on something steady. It should be laid flat like in your car.
4) yes its very easy to maneuver. Note that the front wheels dont lock.
5) reclining the seat is NOT easy! (but the video shows that you can easily slide the 'clip/fastener') I got my finger pinched 4 times already! ouch! So be careful. Watch that little finger...if you know what i mean...
6) Yes it is compact, but dont expect for a spacious basket underneath. You may need to purchase an extra bag that you can hang on it for your extra stuffs and coffee.
7) some website says the handle is extendable. However, its not said in the manual. I even tried it myself but cant. I hope i'll discover it soon, if its true :(
8) the canopy is made of lycra??? Great idea!
9) the unique core seat is the best!waterproof and wipe clean. My major disappointment is I just hope that the car seat adapter for stroller is easily available.Just like the stroller, this will be another waiting game. They said it'll be available this summer. Let's see...sighhhh...

You may check out their video in you tube. Search for "Smart Buggy Video Demo Pramworld"

I want to know your thoughts too... are you happy with your new P&T Smart buggy stroller?

Cosco Umbrella Stroller Review

Cosco Umbrella Stroller
Average Reviews:

The price here is a bit ridiculous. Spend 45 seconds and you can find a reputable retailer selling for just short of half this much, in the ballpark of $20.

And for $20, this stroller is at least decent. It's very, very lightweight, which is good at times. However, it's also pretty flimsy, so don't expect it to tolerate, well, anything. The wheels are small and hard, which makes for a rough ride. It's also very short, so if you're not, prepare to stoop. The latch to keep it closed is hard to find, and the lock to keep it open will take the skin off your fingers if you're not careful. The seat material is very thin, almost worrisomely so (but at least the pattern is cute).

It's also very small. My son is about 33 inches tall and 25 lbs, and he barely fits. If your child is much bigger than mine, they won't fit at all.

I got this stroller to be a super-light-weight way to push my son around on very short trips when i have to carry other heavy things, or go up or down stairs. (His other stroller is a three-wheeled jogging stroller, so very inconvenient if stairs are involved.) It does exactly what i wanted from it, and not a single bit more.

Being a stroller junkie, this was to be my last stroller purchase. After our Plinko lite tore in the seat and wouldn't fold completely anymore from years of use and impatient airline staff handling, I was on the hunt for one last stroller to fit our needs. Our 33 pound 4 year old still tires after all day walking events like Disneyland or Legoland and Daddy can only carry her on his shoulder for so long.We had rented the strollers at Disneyland and liked them...Baby Jogger.. so I thought I'd check them out.I couldn't justify spending a lot on a stroller for a preschooler who will use it probably only another year or so, so went with the micro. We've taken it to Disneyland (via plane) so far, and it has saved the day with the nieces and nephews at other times. We stayed at a hotel across from Disney and our 4 year old stayed comfy and happy as we trekked for 5 days.We even could push our 7 year old (50 lbs) when he pooped out once on the walk back to the hotel. The steering is great, fold is ingenious, and is very portable.Yes, the storage net is small and the shade isn't huge. After owning Graco, Britax, Plinko, and others umbrellas, this stroller gets high marks in steering and folding. It's not the lightest, but because it folds so slim, it makes toting it around a breeze.

BumbleRide Indie Twin Stroller Review

BumbleRide Indie Twin Stroller

Well this has been another one of many items that I researched to no end. So here is my Opinion. We have a 2 1/2 and a new one on the way. First of all, I really wanted to get this stroller because of all the little features and slightly smaller in length. It was this or a BOB Stride. I read all the reviews on BOB, which are always far better than all other strollers. Just search the stroller category for double stroller here on Amazon. Anyway the reviews for the Bumbleride stroller looked good considering it is a new stroller for 2009.So we went down to look at the Bumbleride and they had the BOB Stride there too. After looking at the two side by side here is what I liked about the Bumbleride; the seats laid almost flat, the cool styling and colors, the lower storage was a bit bigger and easier to get to and it was much shorter front to back. Here is what is did not like; the seat adjustment was a little difficult with our daughter in it, not quite as easy to push as the BOB, the suspension was just a rubber bushing and not very much give, once folded the latches that hold it closed latch, but if try to lift it using the handle the latches pop off and the stroller starts to unfold, which limits you to where you can grab the stroller when putting it in a vehicle, Not good. Every time I made an adjustment whether it was the adjustable handle or the leg rest, I could not get over how cheap it felt. After looking closely at it I noticed that there was so much plastic on this thing. I went to set the parking brake and I felt as if I was going to snap it off at some point. Where the rear wheels connect to the frame and where the suspension sits, is all plastic. This is a major stress point and it is plastic?? The wheels are plastic also. As much as I wanted to convince my wife to get the Bumbleride, I couldn't even convince myself. I don't mind spending this kind of money on a product, but quality has to come before anything else. I refuse to pay almost $700 for a stroller that is full of plastic. I think Bumbleride needs to lower their profit margin and start using more light weight metal. We ended up getting the BOB. It was like comparing a bike from Toys R Us to a bike from a pro bike shop. I think you get the picture. I Know you Bumbleride owners will not like my assessment, but I really wanted it to go the other way. Hey just go and compare the Bumbleride to a BOB and you will see, or just take close look at a Bumbleride construction and decide for yourself. Onee more thing the bob is 30.8" wide and this is 29.5" that is only 1.3" wider. Like I said you decide.

If you think a review about comparing quality and looking at products before buying is not helpful, then maybe you should not be reading this. Yes, Metal it stronger than plastic. :)

2010 Bumbleride Queen B European Pram Child Baby Stroller Review

2010 Bumbleride Queen B European Pram Child Baby Stroller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The stroller is very well built and very comfortable.

There are a few downsides:

- the stroller is big and folded is still pretty big (remove the wheels to fit in a more compact space)
- the bassinet does not have handles (this would be a great design improvement).
- not easy to turn in tight spaces

Overall, my wife and I did not find these issues significant (ergo the 5 star rating).

The stroller is very comfortable for the baby. I love walking it in the neighborhood. The stroller has great suspension due to air-filled tires and the fact that the bottom frame and the top frame are joined through flexible joints that make the bottom part absorb the shocks.

The handle is very comfortable, made of very soft rubber.
The stroller is very easy to push. I suggest using the break if the sidewalk is not straight.

I love the construction of the stroller, it's high quality. Also, you can use it to bounce the baby if he/she is crying.
The bassinet is large (about 77 cm (30 in)), so a newborn will find it very comfortable.

A pump is also included along with a rain cover and a foot muff. The fabric is thick and high quality. A cup holder is also included.
The basket at the bottom is large.

I love this stroller! Highly recommended!!!

I have researched double strollers for a while and 2010 Mountain Buggy Duo seems to be the winner on the US market (I liked some European brands that offer a possibility to switch seats position facing the parent or facing the street, but I was not ready to pay for the shipping from Europe). I liked everything about it and if I had hesitations re 2009 model, even considered EasyWalker duo, which is the next best thing, once they made the changes to 2010 model, I rushed to buy this stroller. So far I didn't discover any cons, only pros:
1) easy to assemble
2) easy to maneuver, front wheels can be locked
3) 2 separate seat canopies
4) works ideally for our family with one newborn, who is in the bassinet and for a 1.6 month old sibling
5) seems to have very strong base (sometimes our 3rd child, 3 y.o takes a short ride in addition to 2 little babies already in the stroller)
6) chili dot color looks sooooo cool: just bright enough to please the eye, not obnoxiously red
7) the storage space is plentiful
All I can say is I LOVE IT!
